Are there out of pocket fees? Are the scans really bulk-billed? How does it work? If you have a medicare card and a referral from a Podiatrist, Specialist Doctor or GP there is no fee to you and the scan is 100% bulk-billed. Our clinic charges Medicare directly on your behalf. 

There are only four scans that are not bulk-billed- this means for the following scans you pay a fee and then get returned a rebate in 2-3 days from Medicare.

These are pregnancy/obstetric scans : 12-16 week (Fee: $200.00 Rebate: $70.00), Morphology and Third Trimester (Fee: $230.00, Rebate: $100.20) AND Dating Scans Under 12 weeks ($110.00 Rebate: $67.00).

Do you do Nuchal/NIPT Screening/ Down Syndrome Screening/12-13 week scan? No we don't!

Do I need a referral to get a scan? Yes, we need a valid referral from a Medical or Health Practitioner.

Can I get the report sent to my email? Apologies we cannot- all reports must go to the referring Doctor or Health Practitioner. We do not send results directly to you through email.

Can I add a copy of the results to go to another Health Practitioner (ie GP, Physiotherapist, Specialist)? Of course! Please write down the Name of the Practitioner and Clinic, along with the Fax and their clinic email address. If this is not information you can provide on the day, please forward them to info@sigmaultrasound.com.au.

Can I assess my own images? At the moment this is not something we can do, your report (not images and if you have Medicare and have not opted out) does go onto My Health Record within 10 days.

How do I get my results? How long do they take? You will need to contact the Practitioner that referred you. We do not send any texts to notify you of the reports coming in, and you will need to contact the clinic that referred you. All results take 2-3 days unless the team has said otherwise.

Do we get pictures for pregnancy scans? Yes! Thermal images are printed out each pregnancy scan, unless you do not want them to.

I don't have medicare, how would this all work? Without Medicare or medicare card, we have to charge private fees as we cannot charge medicare on your behalf. This means no rebate is returned to you and we charge a full fee. Please email us for the full-fee pricing. At the end of the scan we will email you an invoice. Unfortunately we do not deal with Private Insurance Companies directly, so are unsure which ones cover costs. It will be up to you to speak to them directly.
